Vikram Bhatt: We couldn't afford big stars for HORROR STORY

By Joginder Tuteja, Glamsham Editorial

Vikram Bhatt has never shied away from declaring his fascination for selling 'fear'. Over last half a decade, he has (re)built a career by making back to back horror or thrilling flicks. While he is in the process of making one more film belonging to this genre i.e. CREATURE, he is also sanctioning other filmmakers associated with him to do the same.

CREATURE is one such film. However one does wonder that what was the core thought behind making it an all-newcomer affair. After all, given the box office clout that Vikram enjoys (especially after the huge success of RAAZ 3), he could have roped in much more established actors.

"Well, I avoided doing that because HORROR STORY is one movie that said that 'Hey, give me newcomers'," Vikram says in his animated avatar, "See, when you have a new idea then you need to have a new way of doing that as well. There is no point watching seen-before faces and then expecting them to be doing something new. Any of that only leads to half-baked new look."

He goes on to make a confession though.

"Let me be very honest. This is a film which has been made with a very tight budget. We couldn't afford big stars but then that was okay because in a film like this, people step in to get scares. We are selling fear in HORROR STORY and for that the need of the hour was to get a right bunch of actors who could portray fear," adds Vikram.

Starring Karan Kundra, Ravish Desai, Hasan Zaidi, Nishant Malkani, Nandini Vaid, Sheetal Singh, Aparna Bajpai and Radhika Menon, the film releases all over this Friday.
