Why is Ram Gopal Varma lauding Karan Johar's SOTY?

By Rachana Sheth, Glamsham Editorial

Just when we thought the two rival filmmakers Ram Gopal Varma and Karan Johar are busy in their own worlds with their respective films and have stopped taking digs at each other, here comes some surprising comments from none other than our very own quirky and witty Ram Gopal Varma!

Ramu and Kjo, who have been at loggerheads, are often in the news for taking potshots at each other. But for quite some time nothing was heard from the two and it was deemed that the duo has finally preferred to be nonverbal. But now with Ramu's latest comments it has left us bemused and are just wondering what Ramu is up to.

Varma, who is gearing up for his upcoming release BHOOT RETURNS, the sequel to BHOOT, tweeted about Karan Johar and his upcoming much-in-the-news film STUDENT OF THE YEAR (SOTY), which releases a week after Ramu's film.

Firstly he tweeted about Karan Johar style of filmmaking, "I don't know about student of the year but I wud want to be a student for life of Karan johars cinema. I rate Karan johar far far more higher than Mehboob khan v.shantaram Rajkapor guru Dutt and Bimal Roy. A Karan johar film institute is anyday a far better option than Subhash ghai gibhash ghai nd pune gune film institutes."

Later he commented on the film SOTY, "Kuch Kuch hogaya mujhe Student of the year trailer dekhte dekhte. Student of the year truly really and honestly looks like its the best film of Karan johar and the bestest film of Indian cinema ever. I strongly feel student of the year will break the records of 3 idiots.

"Kudos to Karan johar for making Varun dhawa make me forget sharuk khan," Ramu further tweeted.

While Karan Johar has been going full throttle to promote his film SOTY and had long back scheduled its release (19th Oct), Ramu suddenly came up with the plans to release BHOOT RETURNS, a week before SOTY. Now whether it is a gimmick to grab some attention for the film BHOOT RETURNS or he is seriously lauding Kjo and his film is something only he can tell.

Meanwhile, we wait for Kjo's reaction on this.
