There are women who have the good fortune to travel and lead. Women executives make it to the top of the corporate ladder, shattering the glass ceiling and raising the bar even for men. These are women who are CEOs of their offices and their homes. They are written about and, justifiably, celebrated.
And then, there are millions of Indian women who, having achieved none of the above, still stand out for their grit and their perseverance. They are bread-winners, entrepreneurs, mothers, pillars of support for their families and their communities.
Traveller and photographer PRASAD N P photographed some of these extraordinary Indian women entrepreneurs who, against great odds, eke out a living with pride and honor. Chances are that you may have seen them on the street every day and passed them by.
